Leeds and 1000 Islands Historical Society acknowledges, with gratitude, the stewardship of the Haudenosaune and Anishinaabe Peoples on whose traditional land we now live, work, and play.
Our Historical Society recognizes the area’s longer history, predating the establishment of the earliest European colonies. We also acknowledge the significance of this land to the First Peoples who lived and continue to reside upon it.
We commit to working towards true justice and reconciliation with Indigenous Peoples through the implementation of the Calls of Action of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada.
